Tawana Darshae

Tawana Burks is the author of Daughter the first book in the Created To Belong series—inspired by her life as an adopted child, and her biological mother’s life as an ex-drug addict. Learn more about Daughter.

Tawana is originally from Detroit, MI, but moved to Washington, D.C. where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice from Howard University. While in D.C. Tawana co-founded an organization, Culture New Norm, where hundreds of millennials throughout the DMV area, and eventually Detroit, MI, was impacted through Christ-centered events.

Tawana is a deliverance minister and a minister of the Gospel of Jesus. She creates space and spaces for people to grow in healthy relationship with God and one another. She is passionate about her relationship with Jesus, serving the millennial generation, and having a good time. She loves spending time with friends, traveling, and can often be caught singing her heart out.
